Top 10 Things to do in Bali

Top 10 Things to do in Bali

Bali is my favorite vacation spot to date! My two plus week trip to Bali was life-changing, mind-blowing and will be spread out into multiple different posts. I racked my brain and thought of the top 10 things to do in Bali that I (mostly) discovered when I got there. In no particular order, let’s start the list:

– Climb Mount Batur in time for sunrise! Do the long, strenuous option of the hikes that starts at the bottom, the view at the top makes it all worth it. Also, they cook eggs in the mountain for you and make delicious egg sandwiches (TRUST ME!). There are so many tour options that will pick you up from your hotel or AirBnB (which is all I booked for this trip btw). The tour we booked is here.

– After hiking Mount Batur, relax in the Batur Natural Hot Springs; your body will thank you!

– Hire a driver for a day! This is an incredibly affordable way to travel around Bali (ours were around $40 for 8 hours of driving, which for 5 of us was $8 each!) and the drivers usually know about and suggest other places to stop at besides where you tell them to.

– Go to northern Bali where the towns are smaller and less touristy. Balinese people love to share their stories and traditions.

– Find and play with monkeys in the wild. If you happen to have food, they will love you even more. A lot of people say the ‘Monkey Forest‘ is a must-see but for me, seeing the monkeys in the wild was a much more genuine experience.

– Try a free coffee/tea tasting! They are all over but some places offer tours/tutorials of the coffee making process, some just serve coffee with a view. The flavors offered are pretty similar throughout Bali so you can’t go wrong. If you want to try the Kopi Luwak coffee (the famous poop coffee from The Bucket List movie), that will cost you a bit extra (about $4). I personally don’t think it tastes extraordinary but to say you’ve tried it is worth it.

– Take a swim or a dive at the Tegenungan Waterfall, it is a great way to cool off and relax. If you have a driver, they will know where to take you.

– Rent a moped and see Bali the way the Balinese see Bali. So cheap ($5 per day) and SO fun!

– Hit up any beach in southern Bali in Nusa Dua. Our favorite was Seminyak Beach (check out those bean bag chairs)!

– See all of the temples you can. Our favorites were Tirta Empul, Gunung Kawi, and Ulun Danu Beratan(pictured).

If you have other off the beaten path adventures you found in Bali, please share!!
